OVERVIEW

This project presents an animated short film that explores the challenges faced by elderly individuals in adapting to a rapidly changing technological world. The story follows an elderly protagonist as he navigates various technological devices and applications, struggling to keep pace with younger generations. Through this project, the aim is to raise awareness about the digital divide and the impact it has on elderly populations while also showcasing the potential of animation as a medium for storytelling.

Listening to the stories shared by people around me about their own experiences or those of their parents has provided me with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the elderly in this fast-paced digital era. From fumbling with smartphones to grappling with social media platforms, each story reflects the determination and resilience exhibited by the older generation as they strive to adapt to a rapidly evolving world.

These tales of confusion, frustration, and eventual triumph serve as the foundation for my animation, which aims to capture both the humor and the heartwarming moments that arise from these intergenerational encounters.

used the latest and most advanced digital character design tool known as Metahuman, powered by Unreal Engine, to create the characters, and they narrow the boundaries between the real world and virtual ones. These amazingly lifelike virtual people are created to be easily animated and given life.

With a simple interface and a wide selection of pre-made animations and facial expressions, we can quickly create lifelike performances, giving these digital beings personality and emotion.

For real-time face and body motion capture, I used tools like Live Link Face (by Unreal Engine) for facial tracking and Mixamo for full-body motion capture. These enable high-quality, real-time animation syncing with 3D characters

COMPOSITING

3D compositing integrates rendered 3D elements with digital environments, enhancing realism and adding visual effects. It involves layering, color correction, lighting adjustments, and effects like motion blur to create a seamless final animation.
