This course project aimed to develop a digital twin of a location on the IIT Hyderabad campus. The 3D space was accurately measured in real life and modeled using 3ds Max, incorporating detailed materials and textures. The final digital twin was then transformed into an interactive virtual reality model, seamlessly integrated into an AVR-based cloud platform for enhanced visualization and collaboration.

THE SPACE

The selected space for the digital twin is a recreational room within the hostel area. This room was chosen due to its frequent use by individuals of various age groups, making it a valuable candidate for an AVR-supported digital twin. Located between the boys' hostels, the room serves as both a recreational and television space. It has a square layout with two opposite diagonal corners rounded. The roof is supported by eight pillars, without contact with the side walls, and features a beam-supported structure for added stability.

UNREAL GAME

Unreal Engine provides an immersive gameplay experience that allows users to interact with virtual environments in real-time. Its advanced rendering capabilities and physics simulation create highly realistic spaces, making it an ideal tool for interior planning. Designers can experiment with different layouts, materials, and lighting conditions before finalizing a design, enabling more informed decision-making. With features like real-time ray tracing and VR integration, Unreal Engine offers a lifelike representation of interiors, helping architects and clients visualize spaces accurately and make adjustments instantly, reducing costs and improving efficiency in the design process.

XR GAME

After creating the 3D model in 3DS Max and Unreal Engine, the development of the mobile application began using EON XR. The .fbx asset was imported into the platform, allowing the creation of an interactive lesson based on the model. Once integrated, the model was successfully viewed and experienced within the mobile application, enabling an immersive augmented reality experience for users.
